Northend Youth 1 Coleraine Olympic 1                                 Saturday 26th October 2013

This was a cracker of a game with both teams wanting to win from the first whistle. Northend really lifted their game this week after a poor performance last week, and it took all the boys to dig deep and it showed with every player outstanding and they should really of won this game on the chances they created, but they fell behind to Coleraine in the first half when the Coleraine player got in behind the Northend defence to score. Northend came more into the game and it took great defending from the Coleraine defence to keep them infront with Kevin Cosgrove, Jordan McFetridge and Jay McKeown going close for Northend. Half time score 1-0

Northend really upper their game in the second half and pushed  looking for the equalizer and they had some great chances with Conor McKillop, Lewis Hextor and Jay McKeown going close. When the goal did come, it was worth waiting for after Northend pegged Coleraine back with a succession of corners and throw ins in their half lead to the Coleraine defence blocking shot after shot and when the ball came back out Kevin Cosgrove hit a half volley from fifteen yards out and placed the ball into the far corner of the Coleraine goal to level the score. The game then went from end to end but the defence of Ben Harkin, Kevin Cosgrove and Captain Niall Devine was hard to breakdown and Curtis Wilson in the Northend goal was always there to release the ball quickly and with Ciaran Martin pressing the Coleraine players into making mistakes it looked like Northend could get a winner, but time ran out and the game ended even. Full time score 1-1

Northend Youth 6 Roe Valley 4                                           Saturday 12th October 2013

This match was a great advert for the Coleraine Small Sided Games Development Centre with Northend coming out the better of a ten goal thriller. Both teams to their credit gave their all, with an out attack attitude and it was Conor McKillop who put Northend infront when he drilled his shot into the top corner of the Roe Valley goal. Then Liam Allen on his first appearance scored two crackers rounding the keeper and sliding the ball into net then adding another when he out paced the Roe Valley defence to coolly place into the net. Roe Valley then pulled one back before halftime. Half time score 2-1

The second half again started at a ferocious pace and Niall Devine in the Northend goal had to be alert as the Roe Valley players were starting to get on top and he made some important saves before Sam Crawford and Cal O'Brien put Northend further infront with two well taken goals. Roe Valley then got a bit of luck when a mix up at the back lead to a OG being scored which gave Roe Valley that little bit of inspiration that they needed and they added two more, cutting Northend's lead to one goal and again it took Niall Devine in the Northend goal to keep it that way with a couple of important saves and also great defending by Harkin, O'Brien and Ciaran Martin. Northend finished the game off with three minutes to go when Jay McKeown finished of a great move involving Sam Crawford, O'Brien and ended with McKeown smashing the ball into the roof of the Roe Valley net. The Northend boys should of added a few more but poor finishing let them down. This was a brilliant performance from both teams and a game Northend deserved to win with a hard fought attitude now instilled into the boys.

Bertie Peacocks Youth 5 Northend Youth 0                     Saturday 5th October 2013

This was a great match even if the score does not reflect it. The game started well for both teams with a steady flow of passing and tackles preventing any goals being scored with Jay McKeown in the heart of the Northend defence having a outstanding game and Curtis Wilson in goals for Northend pulling of a string of good saves and Ben O'Neill at left-back ready to attack at every opportunity with Jordan McFetridge supporting him. Conor McKillop in a new midfield role was coping well with the movement of the Peacocks midfield and had two great shots saved as well. The game changed in Peacocks favour when a shot deflected of a Northend defender and hit the underneath of the crossbar and went across the line, this unsettled the Northend team and they gave away two more goals before half-time. Half time score 3-0

The Northend team never got going in the second half and must learn to hold on the ball better when they are in possession of the ball and to press their opponents faster, but a better performance from the U10 team with Stevie Bristow putting in a five star performance on the rightwing and could of had a couple of goals if not for the last ditch tackles of the Peacock defenders.

Man of the Match: Stevie Bristow

Portrush 5 Northend Youth 0                                                Saturday 28th September 2013

This game started well for Northend with the U10s keeping possession of the ball well, however midway through the first half, they switch off and Portrush never looked back, scoring a number of goals with no response from Northend. This team is playing together for the first time in the Coleraine League and it showed with their passing going a stray on numerous occasions.

Niall Devine was outstanding in goals and pulled of a string of top saves. The U10 team must listen and play more as a team and not as individuals if they are to improve.

Man of the Match: Niall Devine

Panel: N Devine, S Crawford, C Martin, J McFetridge, C Wilson, K Campbell, C McKillop, B O'Neill, TP McGurk, C Killough, J McKeown

Northend Youth 0 Bertie Peacocks 5                                Saturday 21st September 2013

Bertie Peacock controlled this game from start to finish with this outstanding performance to leave Northend second to everything. To be fair this Northend team have only been formed at this age were Peacock have been together three years, so they now know what they have to do to get to where Peacock's are now at.

Man of the Match: Darra Killough

Panel: B Harkin, TP McGurk, C McKillop, B O'Neill, N Devine, C Martin, K Campbell, C Wilson, S Crawford, D Killough

Larne Youth 4 Northend Youth 8 - Friendly                  Saturday 14th September 2013

This match in Larne was a real thriller with both teams playing great football, and with Northend fielding five new players this gave them a chance to show their football skills against a well drilled Larne team.
It was no surprise that Larne went 2-0 up in the first five minutes. This spurred Northend into action and then scored a brace through through Sam Crawford to draw level then went further infront with goals from Dara Killough, Ben O Neill, Conor McKillop and Ciaran Martin.

Larne scored a couple of late goals before Northend added a few more. This was a great performance from all the boys.

Panel: D Killough, S Crawford, B O'Neill, C McKillop, C Martin
